BMSL Board

The Bilingual Montessori School of Lund operates as a foundation governed by a board. The BMSL Foundation Board has the legal responsibility for the whole school. The Board acts as BMSL’s principal and is ultimately responsible for the day-to-day operations, the management of the foundation’s property and finances, and must ensure that the foundation fulfils its purpose according to the statutes. According to the statutes, the teaching shall be conducted according to Montessori pedagogy, be multilingual (including at least Swedish, English and French) and incorporate daily physical activity.

The Foundation Board  appoints the School Rector who is responsible for the operational running of the school on behalf of the Board. The School Rector attends the Foundation’s board meetings.

The Foundation Board is elected at the annual meeting of the Parents’ Association. There must be a minimum of five and a maximum of seven members on the board. Alternates may also be appointed. The Founders’ Group (which includes the three founders of the school) has the right to appoint two of the board members. The other members, one of whom must be the Chair of the Board, are appointed by the Parents’ Association. All parents with children in the BMSL preschool or school are members of the Parents’ Association.
